Homekeeping Journal

Well, my goal this summer was to get organized, and while I am close, I still have a ways to go.  I have been wanting to put together a homekeeping journal for years…and I am almost ready to quit procrastinating.  But not quite!  After searching around for inspiration,  I decided that the next best thing to making an organizer with written down schedules for myself, is making one for someone else! I looked through all of Flylady’s wonderful ideas for her control journal, and then I browsed here, and then I made this:

Homekeeping Journal

This one is my first attempt and it goes out to dear April.  I covered a three ring binder with canvas and I hand embroidered an "A" with embroidery floss and the two little carrots on either side are made with orange and green ribbon.  The inside cover is handpainted and was inspired by some vintage 50’s kitchen transfers I recently purchased on ebay.

Homekeeping Journal-inside cover.

I am still working on a layout for the inside dividers, but hope to be able to post those by the end of the week.

It’s really lovely and such a help. I have a similar home organizer/housekeeping book I made (using pretty much the same resources you did) but I didn’t make a cover for it. Your cover is so fabulous that I’m now inspired to do something about my bland notebook binder.

Wow! I love it. You always know how to make something special. I can’t wait to get it and start organizing!

Thats beautiful! I’m working on my binder as well and am always on the look out for ideas. I’m on the hunt for some vintage style fabric to cover the actual binder. Then I need to decide how to organise it. At the moment, its not sorted into much more than monthly sections.

When I make this I use a large Corningware oval dish. It yields about 8 large servings. To be on the safe side and have enough I would double the recipie (if you have a large enough baking dish) or just make two batches. Any leftovers you may have will not last long!
